The rules of the game, and the legal bits that go with them.
By playing Wiki-Guesser you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't play. We've tried to write them in plain language; where the law makes that impossible, we've at least kept them short.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Wiki-Guesser. In some countries the age of digital consent is 16 — if you are under that age where you live, you may only play with a parent or guardian's permission, and they accept these terms on your behalf.
You can play as a guest with no account at all. Ranked play requires signing in with Google or Discord, so that a rating has a stable owner. We never see or store your password — authentication happens entirely on the provider's side.
You're responsible for what happens under your account. If you think someone else is using it, revoke our access in your Google or Discord settings and tell us.
Pick a display name you'd be comfortable showing a stranger. We may change or reset names that are impersonating someone, deliberately offensive, or an attempt to break the page.
Wiki-Guesser is a game about knowing things quickly. Please don't:
We may adjust, reset, or remove ratings and match records that we reasonably believe were obtained by any of the above, and we may suspend accounts that keep doing it.
Rooms have a chat box. Don't use it to harass, threaten, or abuse other players; to post hateful content, sexual content involving minors, personal information about anyone, or spam and advertising; or to do anything illegal.
We do not store chat messages — they pass through our server to the other players in the room and are not written to disk. One practical consequence: we cannot retrieve a conversation after the fact.
Reporting. Every message has a report button. Using it sends us that one message, along with who sent it and who reported it, so that a human can look at it — this is the only way a chat message reaches us, and it is the most reliable way to tell us about a problem. You can also email wiki.guesser.online@gmail.com, but do it while you still remember what was said, and take a screenshot if you can. Don't file reports in bad faith; doing so is itself a misuse of the service.
If you'd rather not see chat at all, you can switch it off for yourself in your profile, and it stays off in future games. If you host a private room, you can switch chat off for everyone in it.
We review reports when we can. We're a small operation and can't promise a response time, or that we will act on every report.
Whatever you type is yours, and you keep it. By sending it you give us permission to relay it to the other players in your room, which is the only thing we do with it.

Article content is written by volunteers and may be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. It's a trivia game — don't rely on it for anything that matters.
The game's code, design, scoring system, and branding are ours, excluding the Wikipedia material described above. You may not copy or redistribute them without permission.
Wiki-Guesser is provided free and offered as-is. We make no promise that it will be available, uninterrupted, or bug-free. It runs on a single server, so restarts and deployments will occasionally end a game in progress — we try to warn players in the room when that happens, but we can't always.
We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the game at any time. If we shut it down permanently we'll try to give reasonable notice.
You can stop playing whenever you like. You can also delete your account yourself at any time — open your profile from your name in the top-right corner and use Delete my account. That erases your profile, your ratings and your match history immediately and permanently; our Privacy Policy sets out exactly what goes. We also delete accounts after 24 months of inactivity. We may suspend or terminate access if you break these terms, or if we need to for legal or security reasons. Sections 7, 10, 11 and 13 survive termination.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Wiki-Guesser is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Some jurisdictions don't allow these exclusions, in which case they don't apply to you.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, ratings, or game progress, arising from your use of Wiki-Guesser. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to USD $100.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer in the UK or EEA, your statutory rights are unaffected.
We may update these terms. The date at the top will change, and for significant changes we'll give notice on the site before they take effect. Continuing to play after that means you accept the new version.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts of Illinois will have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident in the UK or EEA, this does not deprive you of the protection of your local mandatory consumer law, and you may bring proceedings in your own country's courts.
